About High-Dose Vitamin C Infusion

High-dose vitamin C infusion is a treatment that directly replenishes vitamin C (ascorbic acid) into the body via IV drip, achieving blood concentrations unattainable through oral intake. While oral intake has a blood concentration limit (approximately 200μM), IV drips can achieve blood concentrations tens to a hundred times higher than oral intake, and are expected to have a wide range of effects.

It is used globally for beauty (skin whitening, improved skin texture), fatigue recovery, immune system enhancement, anti-aging, and as a complementary therapy for cancer treatment, and has been adopted by many medical institutions in Japan.

Difference from oral intake

Even with oral intake of 1g or more, intestinal absorption has an upper limit, and blood concentration plateaus. With an IV drip, the absorption pathway is bypassed, and vitamin C directly enters the bloodstream, allowing for tens to a hundred times higher concentrations than oral intake.

Main Effects of Vitamin C

Effect Description
Antioxidant effect Removes active oxygen, prevents cellular aging
Promotes collagen synthesis Maintains skin firmness and elasticity, promotes wound healing
Melanin suppression Improves spots and dullness, brightens skin
Supports immune function Enhances white blood cell function, protects against infection
Promotes iron absorption Positive effect on anemia prevention
Stress tolerance Involved in cortisol synthesis in the adrenal glands
Vascular endothelial protection Maintains blood vessel elasticity
Antitumor effect Ultra-high doses selectively generate hydrogen peroxide in cancer cells; under research as a complementary therapy

Recommended for those who:

  • Are concerned about skin whitening, spots, and dullness
  • Feel a decrease in skin firmness and elasticity
  • Experience chronic fatigue
  • Catch colds easily or want to boost immunity
  • Live a high-stress lifestyle
  • Are smokers (smoking consumes large amounts of vitamin C)
  • Are in the recovery phase after severe infection
  • Want to take anti-aging measures
  • Are considering complementary therapy for cancer treatment
  • Want to promote wound healing after surgery

Our Administration Dose Plans

You can choose from multiple doses according to your goals, physical condition, and lifestyle.

Dose Main Purpose Time Required
12.5g Beauty, general health maintenance, initial introduction 30–40 minutes
25g Fatigue recovery, enhanced beauty 40–50 minutes
50g Serious beauty, immune system enhancement 60–75 minutes
75g Anti-aging, chronic fatigue 75–90 minutes
100g or more (ultra-high dose) Complementary therapy for cancer treatment 90–120 minutes

Pre-screening is mandatory for ultra-high doses (25g or more)

When administering 25g or more, screening for G6PD (glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase) deficiency is required. If this enzyme is deficient, there is a risk of hemolytic anemia with ultra-high doses of vitamin C.

Treatment Flow

  1. Initial consultation/examination: Confirm goals, medical history, and medications
  2. Pre-screening: First time (especially if requesting 25g or more), check G6PD activity, kidney function, and anemia
  3. IV drip preparation: Secure intravenous access, replenish fluids and salts as a precaution
  4. IV drip administration: Relax in a reclining chair (30–120 minutes)
  5. After treatment: Drink water, light meals are fine, can resume normal activities

Timing of Effect Realization

Purpose Estimate until effect is felt Recommended Frequency
Fatigue recovery/Lethargy Day of treatment to next day 1–2 times a week
Skin whitening/Dullness improvement 2–4 weeks 1 time a week for 4–6 weeks, then 1–2 times a month
Skin firmness/Radiance 2–3 months Continue 1–2 times a month
Immune system enhancement Several weeks~ 1–2 times a month
Cancer complementary therapy Depends on treatment period 2–3 times a week (professional judgment)

Effects vary by individual

The degree to which effects are felt varies by individual depending on their constitution, lifestyle, and existing oxidative stress levels. Many people only start to feel effects after continued use, so we recommend continuing for a while rather than judging after just 1–2 sessions.

Consultation Process

  1. 1

    Counseling and G6PD Test

We will check your physical condition, purpose, and medical history. If you wish to receive a dose of 25g or more, a G6PD test (blood draw) will be performed for the first time only. The test results will be available on the same day, so if there are no issues, you can receive the IV drip on the same day.

  2. 2

    Start IV drip (30-60 minutes)

You can receive your IV drip while relaxing in a reclining chair. You can use your smartphone, read, or even work. The only pain you'll feel is a momentary prick when the needle is inserted.

  3. 3

End of treatment and going home

You can return home immediately after the IV drip is finished. There is no downtime, and no restrictions on daily life. You can apply makeup, exercise, and bathe immediately after the treatment.

よくある質問

Frequently Asked Questions

Q How often should I get an IV drip?
A

Since vitamin C cannot be stored in the body, regular infusions are effective. Generally, we recommend infusions once or twice a month, but the optimal frequency varies among individuals, so please consult with your doctor.

Q How long does it take?
A

Your visit, from arrival to departure, will take approximately one hour.

Q Do IV drips hurt?
A

The needles used at our clinic are as thin as possible, so there is minimal pain, but some pain may still occur.

Q Are there situations where I can't get an IV drip?
A

Individuals with heart disease, pregnant individuals, and breastfeeding individuals cannot receive any IV drips. In addition, there are others who cannot receive certain IV drips depending on the type, so please check each IV drip's page.

Q Is it okay to exercise or bathe after an IV drip?
A

There are generally no problems with exercising or bathing after an IV drip.

Q Is there anything I should be aware of after an IV drip?
A

Please be careful not to rub the injection site after the infusion, as it may cause bruising.

Q Are supplements and IV drips equally effective?
A

There is a difference in effectiveness between supplements and IV drips. Beauty IV drips are said to have a high absorption rate and provide quick results because the beauty ingredients are delivered directly into the bloodstream and circulated throughout the body.

Q On the other hand, supplements are taken orally, so they are absorbed into the body through the digestive process. As a result, their absorption rate and immediate efficacy may be lower compared to beauty IV drips.
A

Beauty IV drips are appealing for their immediate effects and high absorption efficiency, while supplements offer convenience and consistency. It is important to understand the characteristics of each and choose according to your goals and lifestyle.
